LAB#03 Synthetic Minds is an eight-month long program of research and speculative production, in which citizens can join a diverse group of artists, critical thinkers, and experts from different fields to explore the role that the deliberate composition of intelligent systems will play in shaping our collective future. [What is a Lab?]

At Medialab we believe that building collective intelligence depends on the construction of a “context” on which that intelligence can emerge. We call these “contexts” LAB(s).

A LAB is a program of activities designed to materialise and operationalize collective intelligence around a specific topic. To this end, each LAB promotes a series of activities –public events, transversal workshops, critical seminars, artistic projects and collaborative prototyping labs– for the production of open projects related to Medialab's main lines of research.

(What is Medialab Matadero?)

Medialab Matadero is an institutional platform for interdisciplinary research and creation, which collectively addresses relevant social, technological and/or ecological issues. Medialab understands culture as a technology at the service of society, with the potential to transform the geophysics and geochemistry of the planet for the benefit of all the entities that make it up.
